A Tradition We're Proud to Continue: Arnie Bauer at the 2025 Veterans Day Parade

Last November, Arnie Bauer Buick GMC Cadillac had the privilege of participating in the 2025 Richton Park Veterans Day Parade.
Our team joined the procession along Sauk Trail in a black 2026 Buick Envista Sport Touring, celebrating alongside local veterans, families, community groups, and fellow businesses.
Seeing neighbors gather to wave American flags, cheer on parade participants, and recognize those who have served made the experience especially meaningful.
We shared highlights from last year's celebration in our 2025 Richton Park Veterans Day Parade recap.
The opportunity to return in 2026 means a great deal to our team. We're excited to continue supporting this annual tradition and reconnecting with the Southland community.

Honoring Veterans Throughout Richton Park, Matteson, and Chicago's South Suburbs

The Richton Park Veterans Day Parade is about more than the procession itself. It's an opportunity for our community to come together and recognize the individuals whose military service has helped protect our country.
Throughout Richton Park, Matteson, Park Forest, Olympia Fields, and neighboring Will and Cook County communities, veterans and military families are an important part of the fabric of our neighborhoods.
Some have served overseas. Others have supported missions here at home. Many continue to contribute to their communities long after their military service has ended.
Each deserves our appreciation and respect.
At Arnie Bauer, we're honored to participate in an event that puts these individuals and their sacrifices at the center of the celebration.
Whether you're a veteran, an active-duty service member, a military family member, or a neighbor who simply wants to show your support, we encourage you to join us on November 7.

Proud to Be Part of the Southland Community Since 1945

Community involvement has always been an important part of who we are at Arnie Bauer Auto Group.
As a family-owned automotive business with roots dating back to 1945, we've built lasting relationships with generations of drivers throughout Chicago's South Suburbs.
Our Matteson dealership serves customers from Richton Park, Park Forest, Olympia Fields, Tinley Park, Frankfort, Homewood, and surrounding communities. But our connection to the Southland extends beyond our showroom and service department.
From participating in local parades to supporting neighborhood organizations and community initiatives, we believe being a good neighbor means being present and involved.
Returning to the Richton Park Veterans Day Parade is another opportunity to demonstrate that commitment while recognizing people who deserve our gratitude.

Join Arnie Bauer at the 2026 Richton Park Veterans Day Parade!

We're looking forward to another memorable Veterans Day celebration and hope to see plenty of familiar faces along Sauk Trail on Saturday, November 7, at 10:00 AM.
If you're searching for Veterans Day events near Matteson, IL, or family-friendly community events in Richton Park this November, the annual parade is a meaningful way to spend your Saturday morning while showing appreciation for our nation's veterans.
To the Village of Richton Park, the parade organizers, participating organizations, and everyone helping make this event possible, thank you for continuing this important tradition.

Amber tire pressure warning light lit on a vehicle’s instrument cluster above the speedometer

Service Tire Monitor and Other Buick GMC Dashboard Messages, Explained

Why do warning lights come on when it gets cold? Cold air contracts, so tire pressure drops about 1 psi for every 10°F the temperature falls. A tire that was fine in September can trip the warning on a frosty October morning. Cold can also expose a weak sensor battery or a marginal electrical connection that worked all summer. At Arnie Bauer Buick GMC Cadillac in Matteson, dashboard warning messages are a frequent reason drivers from Olympia Fields, Park Forest, Richton Park and Tinley Park visit our service department this time of year. This guide covers the messages we see most on Buick and GMC vehicles, what they usually mean, and how soon to act. What is the difference between the low tire pressure light and “Service Tire Monitor System”? The low tire pressure light means at least one tire is under-inflated. “Service Tire Monitor System” means the monitoring system itself has a fault, so it may not warn you if a tire loses air. Check your tires for the first; schedule a diagnosis for the second. Message What it means Common causes What to do Low tire pressure symbol (horseshoe shape with an exclamation point), solid One or more tires are below the recommended pressure Cold weather, a slow leak, a nail or a leaking bead seal Check pressure when tires are cold and inflate to the door-jamb placard “Service Tire Monitor System” message, or a tire light that flashes and then stays on The system has a fault A worn sensor battery, a damaged sensor, or a sensor not relearned after a tire or wheel change Schedule a check soon; use a gauge on all four tires until it is fixed Many Buick and GMC models show each tire’s pressure in the Driver Information Center, so you can see which tire is low. How do I fill my tires to the right pressure? Check pressure when the tires are cold, such as before driving or after the vehicle has sat for a few hours. Fill to the pressure printed on the label inside the driver’s door jamb, not the maximum number molded into the tire sidewall. The warning is designed to come on when a tire is roughly 25 percent below the recommended pressure, so a small drop may not trigger it even when your tires need air. Why would the tire monitor itself fail? The sensors inside each wheel run on sealed batteries that often last five to ten years, so older vehicles are more likely to show the service message. Because the system may not alert you to a genuinely low tire until it is repaired, it is worth having it checked soon. What does “Service StabiliTrak” or “Service Traction Control” mean? StabiliTrak is GM’s electronic stability control. A “Service StabiliTrak” or “Service Traction Control” message usually means the system has switched itself off after detecting a problem. The vehicle still drives, but without stability help on wet leaves, ice or snow, so have it scanned soon. Common causes include a wheel speed sensor, a steering angle sensor, or a fault in another system StabiliTrak relies on. Whether you drive a GMC Acadia or Yukon, or a Buick Encore GX or Enclave, drive more gently on slick roads until it has been checked, and have the stored codes read rather than guessing at the cause. What do brake messages mean, and which ones are urgent? A brake pad life message is a reminder to schedule an inspection, not an emergency. A red brake warning light or a “Service Brake System” message is different: it can point to low brake fluid or another brake system problem and deserves prompt attention. If the brake pedal feels soft or the vehicle pulls when stopping, have it inspected right away. Many newer Buick and GMC vehicles can tell you when brake pads are getting low, which gives you time to book service before pads wear down further. How urgent is each dashboard message? Red warnings need immediate attention, amber warnings need a visit soon, and informational messages can wait a few weeks. Message color Examples What to do Red Brake system, oil pressure, engine temperature Pull over safely and call us Amber or yellow Low tire pressure, Service Tire Monitor System, Service StabiliTrak, ABS Drive carefully and schedule a visit soon Informational Brake pad life, oil life Plan service in the coming weeks Your owner’s manual lists every message your specific model can display, along with recommended next steps. Frequently asked questions Is it safe to drive with the Service Tire Monitor System message on? The vehicle typically drives normally, but the system may not warn you about a low tire. Check all four tires with a gauge and schedule service soon. Why does my tire pressure light come on only in the morning? Cold overnight temperatures lower tire pressure. As the tires warm up from driving, pressure rises and the light may go out, but the tires still need air, so check and fill them. What pressure should I put in my tires? Use the pressure on the label inside the driver’s door jamb, or in your owner’s manual. Do not use the maximum pressure printed on the tire sidewall. What is a tire sensor relearn? A relearn teaches the vehicle where each wheel sensor is, so the system reports accurate readings for each tire. It is typically needed after a tire or wheel change or a sensor replacement. Does “Service StabiliTrak” mean my brakes are bad? Not necessarily. StabiliTrak is a separate stability system, but it shares wheel speed sensors with other systems, so one fault can light more than one message. If you also see a red brake warning, treat it as urgent. What happens when you bring your Buick or GMC to our service department? Our technicians connect diagnostic equipment to read the stored codes behind the message instead of guessing. For tire pressure concerns, we check each tire and sensor, look for slow leaks from nails or bead seals, and perform a sensor relearn when needed so your Envista, Encore GX, Terrain, Acadia, Enclave, Yukon or Sierra reports accurate readings again. We explain what we found and your options before any work begins. Schedule service at Arnie Bauer Buick GMC Cadillac in Matteson Don’t let a mystery message ride along with you all winter. GMC vs. Chevrolet comparison featuring GMC Sierra and Chevrolet Silverado trucks for Chicago-area drivers.

GMC vs. Chevrolet: What’s the Difference? A Guide for Chicagoland Drivers

If you're shopping for a new truck or SUV near Matteson, Tinley Park, Frankfort, or the Chicago South Suburbs, you’ve probably noticed that GMC and Chevrolet vehicles can have a lot in common. That’s because both GMC and Chevrolet are General Motors brands, and comparable models often share vehicle architectures, powertrains, technologies, and other components. But GMC and Chevrolet aren't simply the same vehicles with different badges. Each brand has its own design language, trim strategy, features, and position within the GM lineup. So, what is the difference between GMC and Chevrolet? Here’s what Chicago-area shoppers should know. Quick Answer: GMC vs. Chevy at a Glance Chevrolet: Offers a broad vehicle lineup ranging from affordable SUVs and work trucks to performance vehicles and EVs. Chevrolet generally emphasizes choice, capability, practicality, and a wide range of price points. GMC: Focuses on trucks, SUVs, and utility vehicles with an emphasis on premium design and upscale trim levels, including Denali and Denali Ultimate, along with off-road-focused AT4 and AT4X models. Powertrains: Comparable GMC and Chevrolet vehicles frequently share GM-developed engines and transmissions, although availability varies by model, trim, drivetrain, and configuration. Technology: The two brands share many GM technologies, but standard and available features can differ between comparable models and trim levels. Price: Comparable GMC models may carry higher starting prices depending on their standard equipment and positioning, but actual pricing varies significantly by vehicle, trim, options, and current incentives. GMC vs. Chevrolet: Comparable Models Several GMC and Chevrolet vehicles are closely related, making them natural choices to compare when shopping for a new truck or SUV. Vehicle Segment Chevrolet GMC Midsize Pickup Chevrolet Colorado GMC Canyon Full-Size Pickup Chevrolet Silverado 1500 GMC Sierra 1500 Heavy-Duty Pickup Chevrolet Silverado HD GMC Sierra HD Full-Size SUV Chevrolet Tahoe / Suburban GMC Yukon / Yukon XL Three-Row SUV Chevrolet Traverse GMC Acadia Compact SUV Chevrolet Equinox GMC Terrain While these vehicles may share underlying GM engineering, their styling, trim structures, standard equipment, interior materials, and available features can differ. What Sets GMC Apart From Chevrolet? 1. Premium-Focused Design and Interior Options One of GMC's biggest differentiators is its premium positioning. GMC Denali and Denali Ultimate models sit at the upper end of the brand's lineup and can include upscale materials and additional comfort, convenience, and technology features. Depending on the model and trim, GMC interiors may offer features such as premium leather seating surfaces, authentic wood accents, upgraded audio systems, larger displays, advanced driver-assistance technologies, and other luxury-oriented appointments. That makes GMC particularly appealing to drivers who want the capability of a truck or SUV but prefer a more upscale cabin and distinctive exterior design. For commuters traveling I-57, I-80, or throughout the Chicago South Suburbs, that combination of utility and premium comfort can make GMC an attractive alternative to both mainstream and traditional luxury vehicles. 2. GMC MultiPro Tailgate vs. Chevrolet Multi-Flex Tailgate GMC and Chevrolet both offer versions of GM's versatile six-function tailgate design on select pickup trucks. GMC calls its version the MultiPro Tailgate, while Chevrolet calls its version the Multi-Flex Tailgate. Both are designed to provide multiple configurations that can make it easier to access the bed, secure certain loads, create a work surface, and use the inner gate as a full-width step. Availability varies by model, trim, model year, and configuration, so shoppers should check the equipment included on the specific truck they are considering. 3. Trailering Technology Both GMC and Chevrolet offer sophisticated trailering technology on select trucks and SUVs. Depending on the vehicle and equipment, available features may include multiple camera views, integrated trailer profiles, trailer tire-pressure monitoring, hitch guidance, and in-vehicle trailering tools. GMC markets many of its available trailering features under its ProGrade Trailering System terminology. The important distinction for shoppers is not that Chevrolet lacks advanced trailering technology—it doesn't—but that features, packages, and standard equipment can differ between comparable GMC and Chevrolet models. 4. GMC CarbonPro Composite Bed Another notable GMC feature is the available CarbonPro composite bed on select Sierra models. Instead of a traditional steel inner bed, CarbonPro uses a carbon-fiber composite material designed for durability while offering resistance to dents, scratches, and corrosion. CarbonPro availability depends on the Sierra model, trim, and configuration, so it should be considered an available GMC feature rather than a standard difference between every Sierra and Silverado. GMC AT4 and AT4X vs. Chevy Z71, Trail Boss, and ZR2 Both Chevrolet and GMC offer vehicles designed for drivers who want additional off-road capability, but the brands use different names and equipment strategies. Chevrolet uses names including Z71, Trail Boss, and ZR2, depending on the vehicle. GMC's primary off-road-oriented trims include AT4 and AT4X. Specific equipment varies considerably by model and trim. Depending on the vehicle, off-road equipment can include features such as: Specialized suspension tuning Increased ground clearance Skid plates All-terrain tires Two-speed transfer cases Locking differentials Off-road drive modes Multimatic DSSV dampers on certain applications Because an AT4, AT4X, Trail Boss, or ZR2 does not have identical equipment across every GM vehicle, shoppers should compare the specifications of the exact models they are considering. Does GMC Cost More Than Chevrolet? Often, but not always. GMC's premium positioning means that a comparable GMC may have a higher starting price than its Chevrolet counterpart, particularly as you move into trims such as Denali and Denali Ultimate. However, comparing base prices alone can be misleading. The final price of a GMC Sierra versus a Chevrolet Silverado, for example, depends on the cab and bed configuration, drivetrain, engine, trim, packages, individual options, destination charges, and available incentives. The best approach is to compare similarly equipped vehicles rather than assuming every GMC will automatically cost significantly more than its Chevrolet counterpart. Is GMC More Luxurious Than Chevrolet? Generally, GMC is positioned as the more premium of the two brands, particularly at the upper end of its lineup. GMC Denali and Denali Ultimate models emphasize premium materials, technology, comfort, and distinctive styling. Chevrolet also offers highly equipped trucks and SUVs, including trims such as High Country and Premier, so luxury features are not exclusive to GMC. The difference comes down to each brand's overall positioning and how individual trims are equipped. Which Brand Is Better: GMC or Chevrolet? Neither brand is universally "better." The better choice depends on what you value in your next vehicle. Consider Chevrolet if you want: A broad selection of vehicles and trim levels More entry-level and work-oriented configurations on certain models Performance vehicles in addition to trucks and SUVs A wide range of price points Chevrolet-specific styling and trims such as Trail Boss, ZR2, or High Country Consider GMC if you want: A truck- and SUV-focused lineup Distinctive GMC exterior styling Premium-oriented interiors and available features Denali or Denali Ultimate luxury AT4 or AT4X off-road styling and capability GMC-specific features such as available CarbonPro on select Sierra models For many buyers, the best way to decide is to drive comparable models and determine which combination of styling, equipment, capability, and price fits their needs. Frequently Asked Questions About GMC vs. Chevrolet Are GMC and Chevrolet made by the same company? Yes. GMC and Chevrolet are both brands of General Motors. Because they belong to the same parent company, comparable vehicles often share GM-developed platforms, engines, transmissions, technologies, and other components. However, GMC and Chevrolet remain separate brands with different styling, trim structures, equipment strategies, and model lineups. Are GMC and Chevrolet the same vehicles? No. Some GMC and Chevrolet models are closely related and share underlying engineering, but they are not identical vehicles. For example, the GMC Sierra 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 share significant GM engineering, but they have different exterior designs, trim lineups, interior treatments, and differences in standard and available equipment. Are GMC and Chevrolet parts interchangeable? Some corresponding GMC and Chevrolet vehicles share certain mechanical components, but parts are not universally interchangeable. Compatibility can depend on the model, model year, engine, drivetrain, trim, configuration, and specific component. Replacement parts should always be verified using the vehicle's VIN and correct GM part information. Do GMC and Chevy use the same engines? Many comparable GMC and Chevrolet vehicles offer the same GM engine families. For example, the GMC Sierra 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 share several engine options. However, that does not mean every engine is available on every trim or configuration of both trucks. Always compare the specifications for the exact model, trim, drivetrain, and model year you're considering. What is the difference between GMC MultiPro and Chevy Multi-Flex? GMC MultiPro and Chevrolet Multi-Flex are brand-specific versions of GM's six-function tailgate concept. Both provide multiple tailgate configurations intended to improve bed access and versatility. Availability and whether the tailgate is standard or optional depend on the specific model, trim, and configuration. Is GMC more reliable than Chevrolet? There isn't a universal answer. GMC and Chevrolet vehicles can share many mechanical components and underlying vehicle architectures, but reliability can vary by individual model, model year, powertrain, maintenance history, and usage. Rather than assuming one GM brand is inherently more reliable than the other, shoppers should research the specific GMC or Chevrolet model and powertrain they are considering. Why can GMC trucks cost more than Chevy trucks? GMC positions its lineup toward the premium truck and SUV market, and some GMC models and trims include or offer upscale materials, technology, styling, and convenience features. However, the price difference between a GMC and comparable Chevrolet depends heavily on trim level, configuration, equipment, options, and available incentives. Is GMC a luxury brand? GMC is generally considered a premium truck and SUV brand rather than a traditional luxury marque like Cadillac. However, GMC's Denali and Denali Ultimate trims can offer luxury-oriented materials, technology, comfort features, and appointments. As a result, highly equipped GMC models may compete with vehicles shoppers would otherwise consider luxury SUVs or trucks. Do GMC and Chevrolet have the same factory warranty? GMC and Chevrolet generally offer similar new-vehicle limited warranty coverage on comparable vehicles. Many new Chevrolet and GMC vehicles include a 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, whichever comes first. However, warranty coverage can differ for certain vehicles and powertrains, including electric-vehicle propulsion batteries and certain heavy-duty diesel applications. Always review the warranty information for the specific vehicle you are considering. GMC vs. Chevy: See the Difference for Yourself in Matteson, IL The similarities between GMC and Chevrolet are part of what makes the comparison so interesting. Both benefit from General Motors engineering, but GMC gives truck and SUV shoppers a distinctly different combination of design, premium appointments, utility, and available technology.
